ITALIA – Attraverso la monografia Futuro Remoto Gioielli a cura di Giovanna Ciracì redatta da IQdB edizioni di Stefano Donno, scopriamo il percorso, la visione, le idee di uno dei grandi artisti del gioiello del nostro tempo: Gianni De Benedittis. Un libro che ci trasporta nella sua vita artistica, a partire dall’inizio del suo percorso fino ad arrivare ad oggi. Consiglio fortemente la lettura di questa monografia che è un caso di successo, non solo agli appassionati del settore del gioiello, ma a chiunque abbia interesse verso il mondo dell’arte, dell’imprenditorialità, a chiunque abbia bisogno di un concreto esempio nel suo percorso artistico e professionale.
A parlare è Gianni De Benedittis, che si racconta nella monografia Futuro Remoto Gioielli di Giovanna Ciracì, redatta da IQdB edizioni di Stefano Donno e presentata a Lecce il 7 Febbraio 2020 all’interno dell’ex Convitto Palmieri, che per l’occasione, era gremito di persone. Questo libro è un viaggio nel percorso artistico di De Benedittis che consiglio a chiunque abbia il desiderio di conoscere una storia di successo reale, a chiunque senta il desiderio di ispirarsi e a qualsiasi giovane che abbia bisogno di credere nei propri sogni o che ha smesso di farlo.
Gianni De Benedittis si definisce orafo, ma oltre che orafo io lo definisco artista. Un artista fuori dal comune, che, da sempre, ha viaggiato controcorrente.
Fin dalla sua prima creazione, quando, a diciotto anni, trova nelle spiagge salentine, una linguetta di latta alla quale nessuno presta particolare attenzione, ma alla quale lui riesce a donare, modellandola, la vita di un gioiello. Oggi artista riconosciuto a livello internazionale, gioielliere di riferimento nel mondo della moda e del cinema. Quello che fa Gianni De Benedittis un grande artista non è soltanto la sua arte riconosciuta da tutti, né la sua fama internazionale. Per me quello che lo rende unico è la sua autenticità e visione. Quando vince il premio WHO IS ON NEXT, consegnatogli da Franca Sozzani, avrebbe potuto vivere in qualsiasi città del mondo, ma decide di rimanere a Lecce, in Salento sua terra di origine dove a partire da quel momento è riuscito a portare valore alla sua terra e comunità.
Inoltre Gianni, per chi ha la fortuna di conoscerlo di persona, è l’artista che riesce a pensare il gioiello sulla base di una sensibilità collettiva e di quella del singolo, traducendo questa sensibilità nei suoi gioielli. Riesce a rendere la materia che è inerte, in qualcosa che una vita ce l’ha. Per questo i gioielli di Futuro Remoto ci emozionano, perché sono la trasposizione della sensibilità dell’artista e di una sensibilità collettiva nella quale noi riusciamo a riconoscerci.
La provocazione è uno degli elementi chiave della sua arte. Crea una collezione ispirata al batterio Sakaiensis 201-F6 un batterio “mangia plastica” per invitare a riflettere e ad agire per un mondo sostenibile. E’ nella collezione “La classe è H2O” che introduce l’iconica Dripping Necklace, la collana a forma di rubinetto dal quale sgorgano gocce di pietre preziose e un mondo in oro, rimandando al binomio acqua-vita. Realizza poi in oro e diamanti un anello cinetico che funge da metro. O l’anello fotovoltaico, capace di catturare la luce del sole e di convertirla in energia elettrica. Ho chiesto a Gianni a cosa si fosse ispirato quando ho visto per la prima volta un anello cinetico a forma di ventilatore. “A casa di un amico, un giorno sopra il frigorifero ho visto un ventilatore. Sono stato preso dall’ispirazione, quindi ho smontato il ventilatore per comprenderne il meccanismo. Successivamente ho realizzato questo anello.”
Il Fan ring è uno dei gioielli che preferisco, perché rispecchia esattamente l’anima creativa di Gianni De Benedittis, che riesce a dare importanza e bellezza anche agli oggetti di uso comune rendendoli preziosi. Ciò che rende Gianni De Bendedittis un grande artista, oltre alla sua arte, è anche il credo nei giovani e la concreta trasmissione dell’arte alle nuove generazioni. A tale proposito, istituisce il premio Futuro Remoto Award. Un premio a supporto dei giovani talenti.
Consiglio fortemente la lettura di questa monografia, fatta di racconti, immagini e citazioni dell’artista, il cui fine reputo essere un inizio, perché, come afferma l’autrice: “l’estro di Gianni De Benedittis continuerà ancora a sbalordirci ed incantarci.”

A book that guides us into his artistic life, from the beginning of his journey to present days. I strongly recommend reading this monograph, which is a case of success, not only to those keen on jewelry, but to anyone who has an interest in the world of art, entrepreneurship, to anyone who needs a concrete example in his artistic and professional career.
“I’ll tell you a secret. Any jewel I imagine, by the time I create it, is already outdated. So the future is virtual, it resides only in the conception and design phase; the realization relegates the object to a remote time”.
It is Gianni De Benedittis who is speaking in the monograph Futuro Remoto Gioielli by Giovanna Ciracì, edited by IQDB edition of Stefano Donno and presented in Lecce on February 7th, 2020 in the former Convitto Palmieri, which for the occasion was crowded with people. This book is a journey through the artistic path of De Benedittis that I recommend to anyone who has the desire to know a real successful story, to anyone who feels the desire to be inspired and to any young person who needs to believe in her/his dreams or who has stopped doing so. Gianni de Benedittis defines himself as a goldsmith, but I personally consider him an artist.
An artist out of the ordinary, who has always travelled against the tide. Since his first creation, when at the age of eighteen, he found, in the beaches of Salento, a tin tongue to which no one was paying particular attention, but to which he managed to give the life of a jewel. Today, he is an internationally recognized artist, a reference jeweler in the fashion and cinema world.
What makes Gianni De Benedittis a great artist is not only his art, recognized by all, nor his international fame. To me what makes him unique is his authenticity and vision. When he won the WHO IS ON NEXT award, delivered by Franca Sozzani, he could have decided to live in any city in the world, but he decided to stay in Lecce, in his native Salento, where he managed to bring value to his land and community. Moreover, Gianni, for those lucky enough to meet him in person, is the artist who is able to think of the jewel on the basis of a collective and individual sensitivity and then translating this sensitivity into his jewels. He is able to transform the substance that is inert, into something that has life. This is the reason why the jewels of Futuro Remoto excite us: they are the transposition of the artist’s sensibility and of a collective sensibility in which we can recognize ourselves.
Provocation is one of the key elements of his art. He creates a collection inspired by the Sakaiensis 201-F6 “plastic-eating” bacterium to invite reflections and actions for a sustainable world. Through the collection “Class is H2O” he introduces the iconic Dripping Necklace, the tap-shaped necklace, from which drops of precious stones and a world in gold flow out, referring to the water-life duo. He then creates a kinetic ring in gold and diamonds that acts as a meter. Or the photovoltaic ring, capable of capturing sunlight and converting it into electric energy.
I asked Gianni what was the source of his inspiration when I first saw a fan-shaped kinetic ring.
“At a friend’s house, one day above the fridge I saw a cooling fan. I was taken by inspiration, so I took the cooling fan apart to understand its mechanism. Then I made this ring.”
The Fan Ring is one of my favorite jewels, because it exactly reflects the creative soul of Gianni De Benedittis, who manages to give importance and beauty to everyday objects making them precious. What makes Gianni a great artist, besides his art, is also the concrete belief in the new generations and the transmission of art to them. About this, he instituted the Future Remote Award. A prize to support young talents.
I strongly recommend reading this monograph, made up of stories, images and quotations by the artist, whose aim, I consider, just to be a beginning, because, as the author states: “Gianni De Benedittis’s creativity will continue to amaze and enchant us”.

Interessante suggerimento di lettura. C’è sempre bisogno di ispirazione e di bellezza, soprattutto in questo momento storico, da parte di artisti e di persone che hanno visioni e posseggono le capacità per seguirle e metterle in pratica.
